re - wombat attacking a grown man

Taking an axe to a wombat seems a bit extreme! If the wombat was truly stepped on its not surprising that he gave a few bites back. But the image that the media and the terrified man that feared for his life are putting out there will have folks every where shaking in their boots at the thought of being hunted down by a crazy, furry, man eating wombat!

ABC WA tried to contact re this case. Most media has covered the DEH representative saying how rare this is.
